13 Jul Local partners unite to bring whole health into our communities
Susan G. Komen San Diego’s Circle of Promise is collaborating with Kaiser Permanente, San Diego Black Nurses Association, Project New Village and San Ysidro Health Centers this year to bring together a whole health community outreach event, “Good Health = Long Life.” On the first Wednesday of every month from noon to 6 p.m., free blood pressure and blood sugar checks for both Kaiser Permanente Members and non-members as well as free mammogram screenings and additional health resources will be offered.
Last week, 26 women received free mammograms through Community Health Imaging Centers and Komen San Diego’s funded mobile mammography coach. Stephanie C., community member stopped by to receive a free mammogram, she said she’s glad the community is given these opportunities to keep up with their health, “It’s important to take advantage of our community health resources, it’s why they exist.”
The next whole health community outreach event will be on Wednesday, July 19. For more information, click here.
