14 Sep Komen San Diego Wins Outstanding Grant Making Organization Award from Association of Fundraising Professionals
This year, the Association of Fundraising Professionals San Diego Chapter is honoring Susan G. Komen San Diego for an Outstanding Grant Making Organization at their 44th Annual Philanthropy Day.
Since its inception in 1995, Komen San Diego has raised more than $14 million to fund local non-profits who provide everything from free diagnostic mammograms, meal delivery, temporary financial aid, transportation and more. Seventy-five percent of every dollar raised in San Diego stays in San Diego County to fund breast health services for uninsured and underinsured women and their families. The remaining 25 percent funds international breast cancer research. In fact, next to the US governments, Susan G. Komen® is the largest funder of breast cancer research in the world. National Philanthropy Day® (NPD) acknowledges the entire spectrum of services provided by the nonprofit community and recognizes the profound impact that philanthropy has on the fabric of society. And, each year AFP honors individuals and groups who, through their hard work and dedication, have enhanced philanthropy, their communities and the world.
The team at Komen San Diego is excited to accept this award and be among other wonderful individuals and groups being honored.
This year’s event will be held at the San Diego Symphony on Wednesday November 16th from 4:30-7:00pm. If you would like to attend click here.
