Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air is a proud sponsor of the Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure on November 4 in Balboa Park for the 8th year in a row.

Mary Jean Anderson, Owner/President of Anderson Plumbing, Heating and Air.

Recently, Lizzie Wittig, Komen’s Director of Mission and Public Policy and Merrilee Neal, Komen Board Member and Race Committee Chair were invited to speak at the Anderson quarterly employee meeting.

According to Mary Jean Anderson, president of Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air,

“The Komen Race for the Cure is very near and dear to my heart.  I’m named after my Grandmother Mary and my Aunt Jean – both of whom had Breast Cancer.”

“When I was introducing Lizzie and Merrilee, I asked everyone to raise their hand if they knew someone who had Breast Cancer.  Nearly every hand went up.  Lizzie and Merrilee’s presentations were so inspirational.  Not only insights on the journey of someone with breast cancer, but also how Komen is helping both the patient and their families,” said Anderson.

The employees at Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air help raise funds in a variety of ways throughout the year from having a team in the Race for the Cure to fundraising events to providing customers with a brochure on recommended health tips from Komen.

Anderson also has an initiative called ‘Find A Cure Fridays’ where the company donates to Komen when someone books a service or repair on Fridays from August through October.

“We believe in the good work of Susan G. Komen San Diego.  They are the largest non-profit funder of research outside the U.S. Government and much of those research dollars have been awarded to researchers here in San Diego.  Komen’s bold goal is to reduce breast cancer deaths by 50% by 2026.  We want to do our part to help make that happen” added Anderson.
