Heroes of the Gridiron

The San Diego Enforcers Public Safety Football Team plays football to raise money for charities.  This year, this wonderful team of public safety, law enforcement and fire fighters have chosen Susan G. Komen for the Cure® as its charity of choice.  The San Diego Enforcers are members of the National Public Safety Football League and compete against other public safety football teams from across the country.  Tickets are just $10 a piece!

The season opens on February 27 with a game against the USMC Bulldogs at Escondido High School.  Buy your tickets today.

On April 24, the Enforcers host the New York Fire Department in their fourth annual "Hero Bowl."  The Hero Bowl, the organization's most popular game, will honor breast cancer survivors at half time.  Tickets sell fast, so buys yours today.

March 6 – The San Diego Breast Cancer Fundraiser Third Party Event: The San Diego Breast Caner Fundraisers is an inaugural social reception targeting young professionals between the ages of 21 – 40 with entertainment, appetizers, art and cocktails.  The cost of the event is $25 per person and will benefit the San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  The event takes place Saturday, March 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Club Voyuer, 755 Fifth Ave., San Diego, CA 92101.  To learn more and purchase tickets contact the founder of the event, Nilo Ghandehari at nilo@thebreastcancerfundraiser.com

March 24 - Grants Award Ceremony:  The San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure awards local organizations with grant funds on this inspiring evening.  It’s the favorite night of the year for Komen advocates as they get to pay witness to the fruits of their collective labor with volunteers, staff, board and sponsors.  This year’s awards reception will be held at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24.  The Jacobs Center is located at 404 Euclid Ave., San Diego, CA 92114.  Parking is free.  Please call 858-573-2760 for invitation information and details.

April 24 – San Diego Enforcers Hero Bowl:  The San Diego Enforcers charity football team is a passionate group of men who play other U.S. charity football teams all comprised of law enforcement officials.  Saturday, April 24 they will play the New York City Fire Department team at Cathedral High School in Del Mar with a 5:00 p.m. kickoff.  The evening will be dedicated to breast cancer survivors and breast cancer awareness with lots of “pink” activities.  For ticket information go to:  www.sandiegoenforcers.com

May 6 - Cocktails for the Cure  Mother’s Day Trunk Show: Join the San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure for a delightful evening with your mom or to honor your mom.  The event will include cocktails, appetizers and a wonderful trunk shopping event with proceeds from vendors going to our local affiliate.  Thursday, May 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Location TBA.  Please call 858-573-2760 for invitation information and details. 

June 5 – SDSU Women’s Football Workshop: Last year, this event sold out FAST so if you want to be part of it - act now!  Pair up with Aztec Football Players and Coaches to learn the ins and outs of the sport.  They'll really put you through your paces - and you'll have a lot of fun.  Call 619-594-0760 for all the details.

July 17 – Paws for the Cure:  Bring out your dog dressed in the best pink outfit you can find for this fun event benefiting the San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure on Saturday, July 17.  Details TBA.  

September 12– Cruise for the Cure with Royal Caribbean Cruises:  Royal Caribbean Cruise lines have joined the fight against breast cancer!  If you love to take cruises and you want to help the local San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® raise funds, this is the event for you.  The cruise departs for the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles (San Pedro) on September 12 and returns September 19.  Prices range from $886 to $1116 per person.  To make reservations and learn more contact Paul Halem at phalem@cox.net

September 23 – Race Kickoff Cocktails for the Cure Party:  The San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure kicks off its largest fundraising event of the year and honors sponsors, advocates and volunteers at this celebratory cocktail party on Thursday, September 23 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Location TBA.  

October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month: The San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is quite busy in October with public appearances and speeches at third party events, lunch and learn educational programs at major San Diego companies and rallying registration efforts for the November 7, 2010 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®.  See our website for October events closer to that time of year.  

Ocober 16 -17 – Survivor Crop 24 Hour Scrapbook Marathon: The Survivor Crop 24 Hour Scrapbook Marathon is one of the San Diego affiliate’s largest fundraisers.  Committed and talented women stay up all night in a warehouse scrapbooking and having lots of unique fun.  To learn more go to www.everafterscrapbooks.com

November 7 – Race for the Cure: This is THE largest fundraiser for the San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  Check out the Sponsorship Brochure.  This event draws more than 20,000 people and is truly a day of fun and celebration with live musical entertainment along the walk route as well as a large vendor expo for food and product sampling.

November 19 - 21 – Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk: It’s back again this year in San Diego!  The amazing 60 mile 3 Day Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer 3 Day walk is a tribute to survivors, those we’ve lost in the war on cancer and a battle cry to keep doing everything we can to find the cures.  To learn more go to www.the3day.org
