Sunday, August 15: Ladies' Day at the Del Mar Horse Races 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.:  Join us "Where the Surf Meets the Turf" for Ladies’ Day at the Races!  We will have an education and awareness tent and we will be running our MAKE CHANGE fundraising program in The Ladies’ Day Expo area that houses lots of fun things for ladies to explore and buy. Stop by our booth and see us!  Email Katie Burke if you are interested in tickets to the Races that day.  Supplies are limited!  Ktb690@gmail.com

August 27:  Golf for the Cure Tournament at Salt Creek Golf Club:  Come to the first annual Golf for the Cure Tournament hosted by Lt. Adam Osborn!  The cost for the event is only $75.  The price includes lunch, dinner, four drink tickets (beer, soda, water), 18 holes of golf, a riding cart, a goody bag and prizes!  For more information and to register on line at http://sdgolfforthecure.com -- paypal is available!  

Sunday, September 5: VIP Pink Party at the Del Mar Horse Races! 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.:  Join us "Where the Surf Meets the Turf" at the Races!  From our private lounge space oasis, you can watch the Races, sip a Mint Julep or chat with your friends.  The Thoroughbred Club has generously donated an event space that holds 150 people. We will have the MAKE CHANGE fundraising campaign running throughout this fun day at the Races and anyone who wears pink gets into the Races for free and is encouraged to donate to our MAKE CHANGE Street Team.  We will also have an education and awareness booth set up near the gate entrance staffed with volunteers. The Pink Komen Party Lounge is a no host food and beverage event. September 10: Simon Fashion NOW Fashion Valley Mall Fashion for a Cure 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.:  Simon Fashion NOW, a celebration of style featuring runway fashion shows, the latest trends in cosmetics and the season’s must-have accessories, will be held at Fashion Valley mall September 10. Proceeds from silent auction will be donated to the San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  We will have the MAKE CHANGE fundraising campaign running throughout glamorous event.  To learn more contact Sandy Rabourne at sandy@sdkomen.org

September 12:  Royal Caribbean Cruise lines have joined the fight against breast cancer!:  If you love to take cruises and you want to help the local San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® raise funds, this is the event for you.  The cruise departs for the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles (San Pedro) on September 12 and returns September 19.  Prices range from $886 to $1116 per person.  To make reservations and learn more contact Paul Halem at phalem@cox.net

September 14:  Massage for the Cure:  Susan G. Komen for the Cure is proud to once again be the beneficiary of Massage for the Cure® in 2010. Massage for the Cure is an annual, one-day event presented by Massage Envy® offering one-hour therapeutic massage sessions for $49 with $15 from each massage being donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. 100% of the funds raised will be given to Komen Affiliates to be used for breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. Massage for the Cure is a national event, with an expected 620 Massage Envy centers across 42 states participating. This will be the sixth consecutive year Massage Envy has hosted this event - contributing $1.4 million to the fight against breast cancer.  Massage for the Cure events will be held on September 14, 2010. September 15:   San Diego Magazine Women of the Year Event 6:00 p.m. Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla: San Diego Magazine holds its annual Women of the Year Event to honor the women who Move the City!  A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to our affiliate.  Sandy and Laura will speak and the MAKE CHANGE team will be there to run our fundraising program and man our education and awareness booth. October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month: The San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is quite busy in October with public appearances and speeches at third party events, lunch and learn educational programs at major San Diego companies and rallying registration efforts for the November 7, 2010 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®.  See our website for October events closer to that time of year.  

October 3 – Knit for the Cure at Yarning for You in San Marcos:  Join us 11am - 4pm for an afternoon of knitting, friendship, women, survival, generosity and community at a special knit-in event hosted by Yarning for You (1001 West San Marcos Blvd., Suite 180 in San Marcos).  Knit something wonderful to donate to this worthwhile campaign.  Hats and scarves are always a hit. Perhaps you would like to make a pair of fingerless mitts, a shawl, or a headband...the possibilities are endless! To learn more about Knit for the Cure click here.

October 16 -17 – Survivor Crop 24 Hour Scrapbook Marathon: The Survivor Crop 24 Hour Scrapbook Marathon is one of the San Diego affiliate’s largest fundraisers.  Committed and talented women stay up all night in a warehouse scrapbooking and having lots of unique fun.  This incredible event is sponsored by Ever After Scrapbooks.  Learn all about it here:  www.survivorcrop.com

November 7 – Race for the Cure: This is THE largest fundraiser for the San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  Check out the Sponsorship Brochure.  This event draws more than 20,000 people and is truly a day of fun and celebration with live musical entertainment along the walk route as well as a large vendor expo for food and product sampling.

November 19 - 21 – Susan G. Komen San Diego 3-Day for the Cure:  It’s back again this year in San Diego!  The amazing 60 mile 3 Day Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer 3 Day walk is a tribute to survivors, those we’ve lost in the war on cancer and a battle cry to keep doing everything we can to find the cures.  To learn more go to www.the3day.org 

December 9 Holiday Cocktails for the Cure and Race Thank You:  It’s time to celebrate the success and hard work or all the staff, volunteers, sponsors and board members that comprise the San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Thursday, December 9 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Location TBA.
