The Komen Community Profile is a local needs assessment conducted every four years by our local Affiliate. The goal of the community profile is to identify gaps in services, improve breast health services, be aware of populations most in need of breast health services and tailor our investments and the work of our staff to reduce these disparities.
Background information for the Community Profile Report is gathered for San Diego via focus groups, key informant interviews, breast cancer data and demographic data. All of the background information is analyzed, gaps are identified and priorities are established for the next four years. The Komen Board of Directors includes the Community Profile findings in the Affiliate Strategic Plan and uses them to help select grantees, develop new programs, and focus advocacy efforts on key issues.
